Wolves Wood

1.75 miles east of Hadleigh, off A1071. The reserve is owned by the RSPB. It comprises mixed woodland, oak, ash, hornbeam, hazel and grey willow. Local boulder clay has produced a high water table; mosses, ferns, aspen and sallow flourish in the wetter areas, which include ponds. Hides, an information hut and way-marked paths may assist in seeing up to fifty species of breeding birds. Monthly guided walks. Railway Walk

2.5 miles from Hadleigh to Raydon. A branch railway, joining the main London line at Bentley, was opened as a result of local efforts in 1847. But it never paid its way; passenger traffic ceased in 1932, and the line was closed completely in 1965.
