Sarah trained with the British Wheel of Yoga and has been teaching gentle Hatha Yoga for 13 years. Her teaching encourages flexibility and body awareness, as well as inner and outer strength, and helps support healthy living. It is infused with moments of relaxation to nourish body, mind and spirit. Since there is no competition in Yoga practice, students develop the freedom to work with what is appropriate for their body: appreciating and enhancing what is; taking time to just BE and relaxing into well-being.

Tips for letting go of stress

Breathe in and lift/tighten shoulders.
Breathe out and relax shoulders whilst imagining the stress flowing away.
Repeat 5 times.

Breathe in whilst saying the word 'relax'.
Breathe out whilst saying the words 'let go'.
Repeat 12 -14 times or until calm and relaxed.

 

Tip for lengthening and strengthening your spine

Lie on you back with both knees bent, feet in contact with the floor - feet close enough to your body so that the back of your waist relaxes towards floor.
Breathe into lower ribcage and feel this area expand.
Breathe out whilst tightening abdomen area and drawing this area towards the floor. Imagine your spine growing longer. Repeat 8 - 10 times.
