| The name
Hadleigh is believed to derive from the Norse Haethlega (a
heath-covered place).
Gainsborough, Turner , Constable and Morris have all painted St Marys Church. It was the birthplace of the world-record breaking flyer Oswald Gayford and Raydon Airfield was home a US fighter squadron. |

The town has many
attractive old buildings, not least Sun Court which is linked to author Norah
Lofts.
It has a range of small shops and has attracted the interest of Tesco. The other big issue affecting the town is how to tackle the problem of the aged swimming pool.
